TWC Offers Area Businesses Grant Opportunities Amid COVID-19

ROUND ROCK, TX — As communities across the country continue grappling with the effects of COVID-19, countless businesses have had to make changes to their operations to adapt to the new and emerging needs resulting from the pandemic. To provide training and offer employees opportunities to acquire new skills to adjust to COVID-19 related changes to business models, Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) has grant funding available to help businesses offset the costs associated with training.

The Skills Development Fund COVID-19 Special Initiative, a new program offered through TWC in response to the public health crisis, will award up to $10 million in grants to eligible applicants in response to the training needs of business partners adversely affected by the pandemic. Grants start at $50,000 and can be up to $250,000, increasing in $50,000 increments. To apply for funding, interested employers will need to work with the local workforce development board, as well as a local community college to act as training provider. Businesses seeking more information should visit the TWC Skills Development Fund webpage or email [email protected].
